Restoration Hardware - Los Angeles, CA

They outdid themselves!-the store is wonderful, inviting, and artistic…I know its Restoration Hardware, but this location and creative direction was executed perfectly.  Ok, so there is one tiny criticism: The Noah’s Arc effect of pairs is a little over the top-it’s ok to have one of something…..

AMAZING!

Artist Henrique Oliveira was looking for ways to bring texture to his art when he had a breakthrough: He noticed the plywood fence outside his window had begun to deteriorate, revealing layers of color. When the fence was dismantled, Oliveira collected the wood and used it to create his first installation. His use of weathered wood to evoke the strokes of a paintbrush has become Oliveira’s trademark.14 artists with a green message

Many people with jobs have a fantasy about all the amazing things they would do if they didn’t need to work. In reality, if they had the drive and commitment to do actually do those things, they wouldn’t let a job get in the way.

Presenting:

“Max” the great horned owl of Santa Barbara, CA

I had the pleasure of being part of “Owls in the Family” a program provided by the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History and the Santa Barbara Audubon Society I got to meet Max (horned owl) and Pu Ku(small screech owl).

Gabriele Drozdowski lectured about interaction with owls.  She has helped thousands of birds but has a special connection to Max, her life partner, her owl. Max, Santa Barbara’s famous Great Horned Owl who is 16 years old, has lived with Gabriele since he was six months old. Gabriele also shared plenty of stories and pictures of wild owl rehabilitation and birds who suffered from a variety of maladies such as broken bones, poisonings, abandonment and oil spill complications. This was a treat and I was able to take some pictures.  He was about 3 feet away from me and very well behaved!
